Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Brisbane.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

    The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

    Your host is Francis Keating, a photography professional who has taught in Budapest and Hong Kong as well as Australia and appeared in Czech and American publications, National Geographic, Explorer and My Home magazines. His exhibitions have been held in Budapest and Taiwan. He has a Bachelor of Education from Griffith University and achieved a high distinction in portraiture when studying photography at the Queensland College of Art. Francis excels at black and white photography, having been nominated 7 times in 3 years for the prestigious International Black and White Spider Awards.
    Isabella Porras
    Isabella Porras is a graduate of the Bachelor of Photography at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University (2021). With a major in Documentary Photography, Porras' work has explored Australian identity, migration and melancholy through an intimate lens. Using a collaborative approach to photography, she works closely with her subjects to give them agency and power over their image.

    I woke early Friday morning and heard it not raining. I suited up on my E-Bike and headed out at 4:30am. Early morning before sunrise has always been a good time for me to experience great photos. I went straight to the Story Bridge, hoping for a still River to make for cracking photos.     Title or Location: Out an aeroplane window flying into Brisbane
    Simply a fast point and shoot on my iphone 14pro out the plane window when I saw this mind-blowing, incredibly beautiful, amazing and totally natural artwork on display below us flying into Brisbane from Fiji 2 weeks ago. Photo is exactly as it was. Not cropped and only editing was with the ?magic wand? in the internal phone edit selection menu. Am still full of gratitude that I both witnessed this beauty and was able to capture just a small piece of it to remember forever.

Always leave water baths out for wildlife and happened to spot this little fella taking a dip. rushed and grabbed my camera and was lucky enough to grab a few frames before he disappeared back into the bushland.     This amazing shot was taken at Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary during one of my morning visits at the Sanctuary in February 2024. The first soft light rays from the sun and rising of mist from the lake water made it to look more serene and atmospheric environment. The dead tree (snags) in the water played vital role in making it look like the ghostly scenes in Hollywood movie "Lord of the Rings".The photo was shot with Nikon Z7ii at ISO 100, f14 at 13 sec and processed in Lightroom classic

    Been trying to capture an airplane going in front of the Moon for years. Still haven't got that Moon transit capture. There is something dynamic about this almost transit image I captured though. It almost gives the appearance that the passengers of that plane are doing a fly by and see the moon up close out of their windows.
